Maggie McGlenn is an all around clothing person – sewing, dyeing, upcycling, alterations, costuming – you name it. Raised in Madison, WI, she now calls the city of Chicago home.
Age 9, Maggie was given a sewing machine and a few years later she started taking sewing lessons. (The pillow above is from her first ever sewing lesson and still lives in her sunroom)
In high school, Maggie expanded her sewing skills. She started costuming for her school, stage managing the show choir, and even gained some notoriety for making seven prom dresses for her friends.
Maggie worked in the costume shop all 4 years of college. She is very grateful to her costume professor Karin Simonson Kopischke and Lawrence University for the education she recieved.
After graduating college, Maggie spent a year aboard as a Watson fellow studying all of the different aspects of our lives the creation of clothing helps to sustain.
Now, Maggie works as a Data Governance/Metadata Analyst while making art with friends, old and new, in the wonderful city of Chicago
